Background information:

William^7 Rodman Van Wicklin (Jacob^6, Jacob^5, Jacob^4, Garret^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes), b. 1844, L.I., NY, and died 1905--buried in East Newark Cemetery, Newark, NY. He was from Macedon Center, NY at the time of his death. He married Esther Purdy (1844-1920) and she buried next to William in East Newark Cem. (note: Previously, the information on this page listed birth and death years for William Van Wicklen as 1860 and 1911 respectively, with burial next to father, Jacob, in Brookville Cemetery. However, we now have a photo of the grave marker for William Rodman and Esther (Purdy) Van Wicklen from the East Newark Cemetery.

Children: Jennie^8 S. Van Wicklin, b. abt 1870, Macedon, NY; Purdy^8 L. Van Wicklin, b. April 1876, Macedon, NY (WWI draft reg. lists birth date of 10 Jan 1877) and d. 28 July 1958 at age 83 in Sandusky, Erie County, OH. He was widowed at time of death. He married Louvera Weston (b. abt 1877, OH) abt 1904. Louvera is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Weston. Purdy was a clergyman with the Methodist Episcopal Church at the time of the 1930 US Census.

1900 US Census for Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Delaware, OH lists Purdy Van Wicklen, b. April 1876, NY (NY, NY), student, residing with several other students in a private home.

1910 US Census for Arcadia, Wayne, NY lists Frank A. Kelley, head, 37, b. NY (both parents b. NY), druggist (own store) with Abby J., wife, 39, b. NY (both parents b. NY) and Ester Van Wicklin, mother-in-law, 56, b. NY (parents b. NY), Purdy L. Van Wicklin, brother-in-law, 33, b. NY (parents b. NY) and Lori Vera (?) Van Wicklin, sister-in law, b. OH (parents b. OH) Abby J. would appear to be Jennie S. above given the birth year and indication that Purdy L. is her brother. Lori Vera Van Wicklen is a mystery in that she is listed with parents b. OH yet as a sister in law to Frank Kelley.

WWI draft registration dated 12 Sept 1918 lists Rev. Purdy Van Wicklin of 3rd and Front, Franklin, Warren, OH. Born 10 Jan 1877. He is described as medium height, small build, with blue eyes and light brown hair.

1930 US Census for Madison, Highland, OH lists Purdy Van Wicklen, head, 53, (married 26 years), b. NY (NY, NY), clergyman, Methodist Episcopal Church, with wife, Louvera, 52 b. OH (OH, OH)
